Liliom

The visual style of this production was influenced by early German Expressionist films and shadow puppetry. The dark, surreal atmosphere of the play was reflected in angular shapes and a predominantly monochrome palette. Occasionally, to heighten tension and imply shifts in mood, colour was introduced. Shadow puppetry and silhouettes were used to represent the various locations, as was multifunctional props and furniture.
