The Stunning Flight of Archibald Bone / Crossing the Bar

By: Anthony Pickthall / Lucy Gough
Director: Ciaran Taylor. Lighting / Set Designer: Duncan Gough. Costume Designer: Laura Howe Venue: Pavilion Theatre, Dublin - Aberystwyth Arts Centre - Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff - Theatr Gwynedd, Bangor

In Crossing the Bar a Medieval nun, a young offender and a mysterious gaoler meet in purgatory. The costume of the gaoler was that of a modern Irish prison warden, but was broken down to seem faded, dusty and rusted, as if he’d been on the job for hundreds of years.
In the Stunning Flight of Archibald Bone each actor played multiple parts, so costumes had to easily adapt or change from one character to another. At certain points in the play, the costumes also had to assist the actors in metamorphosing into sinister, crow-like creatures.
